I’m booking my own accommodation!

There are many benefits to booking your own hotel, hostel or guesthouse, including finding a place that suits your preferences and price range. We’re always happy to give our input if you’re looking for some recommendations.

Booking your own accommodation in an unfamiliar city can be daunting and so we thought we’d give you a few pointers to make it as easy as possible.

While on tour, you will be dropped off and picked up at a city-centre location. From there most accommodation tends to be within walking distance, or you can easily hire a taxi from a nearby rank if you are staying slightly out of town. Please always make sure that your accommodation is no further than 15 minutes away in a taxi as you may have an early start in the morning.

Drop off/Pick Up Locations

Inverness – 26 Queensgate, Inverness, IV1 1DJ

Oban – 1 Station Rd, Oban, PA34 4NU

Portree – Somerled Square, Portree, IV51 9BS

We recommend that you book directly with the accommodation provider as opposed to via a 3rd party to ensure you get the most competitive rate available. We encourage that you mention you are on a tour excursion when you book as most accommodation providers will be happy to provide your party with an early breakfast.

I’d like Hairy Coo to book my accommodation…

Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further and we will be more than happy to help.

Private Tour Accommodation

Booking a private tour with us? That’s great news!

By this point, we hope you have taken the time to complete the private tour contact form. If so, one of our private tour coordinators will be in touch to begin planning your trip.

Due to the nature of a private tour and how personal they are to each party, we have made the decision not to make accommodation arrangements on behalf of our private tour guests. We feel in this instance it is important for you to have built a rapport with the place you choose to stay, to ensure everything is exactly as you expect.

Our private tour coordinators are all experienced driver-guides and have extensive knowledge to share with you. Please discuss your ideas with them and together you will find somewhere truly special.

Edinburgh Accommodation

Whilst we’d love to do it all, The Hairy Coo is a wee company and we do have our limits. At this stage, we are not able to offer any assistance in booking your accommodation in Edinburgh before or after your tour. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t try our best to help…

The public transport links in Edinburgh are very highly regarded by locals due to its efficiency and a wide selection of routes. Because of this, we’d encourage you not to be deterred by staying slightly outside of the city centre if you are trying to reduce costs. If you do choose to do this, please research your route before the morning of your tour as we are unable to wait for latecomers!

All of our tours depart from the same location in the city centre of Edinburgh, Deacons’ House Cafe, 304 Lawnmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2PS. We would recommend using this as a reference point when researching accommodation in the city.
